The Resilient Federal Forests Act has made it out of two different committees and is set for a vote on the floor of the House of Representative within weeks.
Since introducing the bill, I have continued to receive correspondence from constituents and groups around the country supporting this common sense legislation to make our national forests healthy again. Among the supporters is Max Braswell, executive vice president of the Arkansas Forestry Association (AFA).

Congressman Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) voted Tuesday (June 23) to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) created by the Affordable Care Act. Since Obamacare was enacted, the advisory board of 15 individuals chosen by the president was never appointed.

Last week, H.R. 2647 – the Resilient Federal Forests Act – made its way out of the House Committee on Agriculture. The next stop is the floor of the House of Representatives.
The bill, which promotes proper forest management techniques, is getting attention from across the country with more than 40 groups backing this legislation. In my weekly column on Friday (June 19),[1] I quoted Arkansas State Forester Joe Fox, who wrote to me with his support of the bill.
