On Thursday, August 20, I will be hosting a telephone town hall event for residents of the Fourth District of Arkansas. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Central Time.

FEMA disaster centers have closed in counties across Arkansas, but that does not mean it is too late to apply for assistance in counties declared disaster areas following recent flooding and tornadoes.

The shooting that took place on July 16, 2015, outside of a U.S. military recruiting station in Chattanooga, Tennessee claimed the lives of five of our brave servicemen. Every day, military personnel are asked to stand in harm’s way to protect our freedoms. Our service members sacrifice their lives in defense of this country, and for that we are truly grateful. As your Congressman, it is my duty to make sure that our military is prepared both at home and abroad.

An increasing number of Arkansas counties have enacted burn bans as recent flooding rains have given way to dry conditions.

This week began the traditional August recess for the U.S. House of Representatives. Even though it is called a recess, the month of August is no break for Members of Congress.
