WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) joined House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves and 68 House Republicans in a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg demanding answers for the Biden Administration’s encouragement of the use of U.S. airports as shelters for illegal migrants.

WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, cosponsored by Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04), to provide fully offset emergency supplemental appropriations for military assistance to Israel and ensure the safe return of American citizens impacted by the attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists. The Biden Administration’s misguided open border policies have led to a historic crisis affecting the entire nation, making every community a border community. Since President Biden took office, there have been more than 5.8 illegal crossings at the southern border. Many illegal immigrants are going to “sanctuary cities,” like New York City, but they’re buckling under the massive influx. Even the progressive New York City Mayor recently stated that the current border policies will “destroy the city.”
Illicit fentanyl poisoning is now the leading cause of death for adults aged 18-49 – more than cancer, car accidents, and heart disease. Only a few milligrams of the drug, about the size of the tip of a pencil, can be lethal. With thousands and thousands of pounds of deadly drugs pouring across our border and infiltrating our communities, this epidemic has grown and evolved into a full-blown health and national security crisis.

Every day, more and more deadly drugs and criminals are flying over our southern border and into our communities. This week, the House voted on the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to continue supporting our military and defense capabilities in Fiscal Year 2024. Since 1961, Congress has worked together to pass the NDAA and maintain the U.S. as a global leader in military readiness.
This year’s NDAA delivered on many Republican priorities while saving taxpayer dollars and empowering a robust national defense by ensuring service men and women have the resources they need to protect our nation.
