Both educators were awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

This legislation requires that recovery plans for species conservation are made publically available once a species is listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
