Passage last week of H.R. 5, the Student Success Act of 2015, was a win for local communities who for years have been fighting government overreach in education. This bill overturns years of overreach by the United States Department of Education and returns local control to school districts across the Fourth District of Arkansas.

Resilient Federal Forests Act

The Resilient Federal Forests Act has made it out of two different committees and is set for a vote on the floor of the House of Representative within weeks. Since introducing the bill, I have continued to receive correspondence from constituents and groups around the country supporting this common sense legislation to make our national forests healthy again. Among the supporters is Max Braswell, executive vice president of the Arkansas Forestry Association (AFA).

A Thursday (April 30) POLITICO article on workforce requirements for able-bodied, working age Medicaid expansion recipients highlights my first bill introduced in the 114th Congress, H.R. 886. The State Flexibility and Workforce Requirement Act of 2015 gives states the option to create workforce requirements for individual Medicaid expansion recipients who are able-bodied, working age adults.
