Rep. Bruce Westerman
I’ve had the privilege of visiting all 50 states, and I can confidently say America is unparalleled in its beauty, diversity, heritage, and bounty of natural resources. From deserts, to mountains, to marshes, to coastlines, and everything in between, ours is a country unlike any other. Church organist Katherine Lee Bates perhaps said it best when, inspired by her view from atop Pikes Peak, she penned the now familiar refrain, “Oh beautiful, for spacious skies/For amber waves of grain/For purple mountain majesties/Above the fruited plain.”
The situation at our southern border continues to worsen as Spring brings about a predicable spike in illegal border crossings and encounters. In addition to the expected seasonal spike, President Joe Biden is ending Title 42, originally implemented by President Donald Trump as a public health measure barring asylum applicants from entering the U.S. while their applications were being processed.

Leadership starts with a strong national energy policy, and the United States must lead in our response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Everyone now knows more should have been done to stymie Russia before the invasion, but now we must look forward and lead with confidence and boldness to protect Americans and strengthen our allies in this fight for freedom.
On Wednesday, I was honored to attend the address by Ukrainian President Zelenskyy as he spoke to Congress over Zoom, pleading for help for his people as they fight for their freedom and their lives. As Russian President Vladimir Putin has continued to terrorize innocent civilians in Ukraine this week, I stand firm that we must give the Ukrainian people every tool possible to defend themselves, including allowing the transfer of planes from Poland.

Drug addiction is an all too common problem in communities across America, and recently, fentanyl use has gained traction. From big cities to small towns, illegal fentanyl – largely produced in China and smuggled into the U.S. through Mexico and over our southern border – is a crisis that is stretching border agents and local police departments beyond their limits.

In less than two weeks, the U.S. government runs out of money to fund necessary programs. Prices continue to rise for consumer products of all kinds, from gasoline to chicken. Millions of Americans have left the workforce and businesses are desperately searching for employees. Students and their families in Blue states across the country are still dealing with school district policy dictated by teachers' unions that want schools closed.
WASHINGTON - Congressman Westerman (AR-04) recently cosponsored the bipartisan "Invest to Protect Act of 2022" to make critical, targeted investments in local police departments and ensure that departments with fewer than 200 police officers have the resources and training needed to keep themselves and their communities safe. The bipartisan bill is led by Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) and former sheriff, Congressman John Rutherford (FL-4), with 35 other original cosponsors. The members released the following statements:
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Westerman (R-AR) released the following statement on the one year anniversary of President Biden's inauguration.
WASHINGTON - Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) released the following statement.
"Yesterday, I voted for the updated National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)," said Congressman Westerman. "As I anticipated, I'm happy to report that the harmful provisions creating Red Flag laws for members of our military and the inclusion of women in the draft were removed.
