WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Inflation Reduction Act under the budget reconciliation process. House Committee on Natural Resources Ranking Member Bruce Westerman (AR-04) issued the following statement in response:
Congressman Bruce Westerman speaks on the House Floor, standing with the farmers and ranchers of Arkansas who are being crushed by spiking inflation. This year’s drought, which hit farmers hard, couldn’t be stopped, but the bad policy that has led to suffocatingly high input costs can. This farming year cannot be salvaged for many, but I urge the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats to immediately reverse course and end the high spending and overregulation that led to these economic conditions
It is no secret to Arkansans that this summer has been an unusually dry season, resulting in moderate to severe drought throughout the state. Some areas have not recorded rainfall for over a month, and the National Weather Service predicts the drought will persist for the foreseeable future.
Rep. Westerman joined Evening Edit on Fox Business with Elizabeth MacDonald.
WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) and U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) toured the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) hydroelectric power plant in Ozark on Tuesday.
Summer is the time of peak power usage and Ozark Powerhouse plays a critical role in ensuring the power grid has the capability to support the demand. Renewable energy sources such as coal, solar, wind and water are necessary to decrease the possibility of brownouts and blackouts.
Ronald Reagan once said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.’” Americans across the country are hurting, faced with unprecedented gas prices and a global food crisis. Farmers and producers are struggling to combat the growing food shortage as supply chains remained strained and input costs continue to skyrocket. Diesel costs are up 115%, natural gas is up 202%, and fertilizer is up 125% from January 2021.
WASHINGTON - This week, Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee Bruce Westerman (AR-04) and Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee, Glenn "GT" Thompson (PA-15), introduced H.R. 8069, the Reducing Farm Input Costs and Barriers to Domestic Production Act. The bill requires the Biden Administration to reverse its regulatory barriers to domestic agriculture production and provide immediate relief to families across the country.
