Beauty in Our Backyards

I’ve lived in Arkansas my whole life and have spent years fishing and hunting in the best lakes and forests, but I am constantly taken aback by the beauty of our state when I visit new places. As members of Congress headed back to their districts for the beginning of October, I was able to see some of these new places through a tourism tour across the region.

I started the week in Jasper at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch for an annual rock climbing competition. From there, I visited Hogskin Arena in Hampton, Poison Springs State Park, Moro Bay State Park and the Warren Skeet Shooting Complex. On the final day of the tour, I was back in northwest Arkansas to discuss ATV trails, access to public lands and restoring our nation’s wildlife habitats.

We are so blessed to have fantastic opportunities for tourism and outdoor recreation in Arkansas. Whether you are looking to camp with family, practice your shot for hunting season or train with your horse for an upcoming rodeo, the Fourth District is the perfect place to be. I hope this tour brings more awareness to the beauty in our own backyards – I’m already looking forward to taking my family to some of the places I visited this week.
