August is for Arkansas

By U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman

This summer has been nonstop in Washington. Voting on legislation, meeting with visiting groups, speaking at events and much more fill every day with activity. As much as I enjoy working on your behalf in D.C., I am really looking forward to time in Arkansas this August.

As you may know, members of Congress typically spend the month of August in their districts. This is the longest amount of time we get all year to be in our home states, and I am always grateful for the opportunity. But don’t let the term “August recess” fool you – there’s still a lot of work involved! Only this month, it’s all on home turf instead of in the nation’s capital.

In the next few weeks, I already have plans to visit family-owned businesses, tour colleges and museums and speak at rotary clubs. I’m also hosting several Coffee with Your Congressman events, one in Hope on July 30, and one in El Dorado on August 7. For full details, visit www.facebook.com/RepWesterman or www.westerman.house.gov/about/events.

Arkansas will always be home to me, and I’m excited to be back working alongside each of you. If you have issues you’d like to discuss, I encourage you to come say hello and start a conversation. I’m always looking for ways to serve my constituents, and these district work periods allow me to hear from you personally.

I hope to see you soon!
