America Thanks our Workforce

The American worker represents the grit, strength, and resilience that has defined our great nation for 250 years. We’ve watched our labor force lead the economy through the Industrial Revolution, the Digital Revolution, and every notable chapter in between, proving time and time again that our nation’s workers are the lifeblood of our economic success.

Labor Day gives us the chance to reflect on the importance of our labor force. The innovation and ingenuity that set us apart from the rest of the world are largely due to the success of the generations of workers who came before us. Making up roughly 61% of the population, American workers continue to set the standard for excellence.

While some states rely on digital commerce for their GDP, Arkansas and the Fourth District rely heavily on tangible industries like manufacturing, farming, and even distribution – shipping our goods to every corner of the country. 

From manufacturers in the River Valley region to our farmers in the south, over half of our state’s population relies on these sectors to support their families.

This is why working in Congress to support our labor force remains a high priority. 

House Republicans have made it our mission this Congress to put America first. That means putting our workforce first. Among several other wins in the Working Families Tax Cut Act, the included provisions for no tax on tips and no tax on overtime mean our hourly workers can put more of their hard-earned dollars back into their pockets.

But delivering results for our labor force doesn't end there. We must continue fighting for lower costs of groceries, electricity bills, and health care. And making the dream of homeownership a reality would also be a tangible way of showing our support for these Americans who we have to thank for our nation’s success.

Labor Day is an annual reminder of just how vital our workforce is to our country. But my hope is that we continue to recognize their efforts not only in September, but throughout the year. I’m grateful to every worker, from grocery store clerks to our local barbers and the truck drivers who keep our economy moving. May we always remember that when our workforce thrives, our nation thrives.
