Westerman Statement on Passage of the American Rescue Plan

February 27, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the American Rescue Plan. U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) issued the following statement:

"I am deeply disappointed that the House of Representatives passed this partisan COVID-19 relief package that does almost nothing to help hurting Americans and instead pulls our nation further into unnecessary debt. This "relief" bill does not live up to the name. In reality, it is a liberal wish-list designed to pay out special interests and bail out blue states whose economies have failed due to harsh restrictions. Foreign aid, a subway in Silicon Valley, and environmental justice grants do not fight the Coronavirus in our local communities. Instead, we should be rapidly increasing the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine and reopen our economies and schools to survive this pandemic."
