Westerman Issues Statement on Iran Bills

November 17, 2016

WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) issued the following statement Thursday (November 17) upon passage of H.R. 5711 and H.R. 6297, bills that would place sanctions on Iran and limit its ability to fully reintegrate with the world financial and economic systems.

“Iran is one of the world’s foremost state sponsors of terrorism,” Westerman said. “The nation’s actions have been hostile and out of line with the values of freedom and democracy we hold dear in the United States. While the Obama Administration has tried to normalize relations through its disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal, the House today spoke loudly by saying the regime in Iran is no friend of America. As long as it supports terrorism, threatens its neighbors, and is hostile to the United States, the House will seek sanctions against Iran.”
