September 26, 2016
Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) released the following statement Monday (September 26) upon passage of H.R. 845, the National Forest Trails Stewardship Act:

“Our national forests and public lands are a treasure to the people of America, but the maintenance backlog on our public lands hinders access to our national forest system,” Westerman said. “I was proud Monday to join Congressman Lummis and my fellow co-sponsors in securing passage of the National Forest Trails Stewardship Act. This bill requires a strategy be developed in five years so the U.S. Forest Service and volunteers can work together to maintain federally-owned trails. To keep our forests and public lands beautiful, and ensure citizens have the access they deserve, it is imperative that this legislation be signed into law.”
