Westerman Announces Nominations to Military Academies

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) announced the Fourth District's student nominations to military academies. Westerman issued the following statement:

"I'd like to encourage all Fourth District students interested in serving their country to consider attending a military academy. America's freedom and values depend on the courage of young people who put on a uniform and fight to protect liberty. U.S. military academies offer unparalleled opportunities to serve while obtaining a fully-funded, top-notch education."

Background

To attend a U.S. service academy, students must be nominated by either the vice president, their senator or their representative. All interested candidates are seniors in high school or currently attending an Academy Preparatory School, and they fill out a packet and submit it through their elected representative's office.

The nomination deadline was Nov. 1, 2020. Below are the students Westerman nominated to military academies:

David Carter from Hot Springs, nominated to the Merchant Marine Academy and Naval Academy

Samuel Bell from Norman, nominated to the Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy and Naval Academy

Daniel Stuckey from Rison, nominated to the Air Force Academy

Adrian Post from Altus, nominated to the Air Force Academy

Cody Lambert from Redfield, nominated to the Air Force Academy

Angie Saldana from Magnolia, nominated to the Air Force Academy

Andrew Burek from Hot Springs, nominated to the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy
