Westerman Announces 2020 State of the Union Guest

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) announced that Neva "Skeet" Baker from Magnolia, Ark. would be his guest for the 2020 State of the Union Address. Westerman issued the following statement:

"Ms. Baker has been a champion for Republican values in Arkansas. Her work with the Columbia County Republican Committee inspires Fourth District residents – both young and old – to exercise their constitutional right to vote for faithful leaders on the state and national levels. I'm honored she will be attending this historic address with me, and I look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes in the year ahead."

Background

Baker was born and raised in El Dorado, Ark., and now resides in Magnolia, Ark. where she is the Republican chairwoman of Columbia County. She first got involved with the Columbia County Republican Committee in April 2004, became the committee's vice-chair in 2005 and took over the chairmanship in 2007.

During her tenure as chairwoman, Baker has worked with Arkansas Sens. John Boozman and Tom Cotton, Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, Secretary of State John Thurston, Treasurer Dennis Milligan, Land Commissioner Tommy Land, Auditor Andrea Lea, Republican Party of Arkansas Chairman Doyle Webb and many others.

Baker is married to Dr. Claude Baker, a retired professor of biology from Southern Arkansas University. They have five children, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
