Fed fix no guarantee for AHTD

The check is in the mail... maybe... depending upon what Congress does after 60 days.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department is waiting to see whether it may have gone a bridge too far as the clock ticks toward the June 9 bid letting for millions of dollars in new highway projects, including the replacement of the Interstate 30 Red River Bridge at Fulton.

As it stands, the Red River Bridge is part of the June 9 contract letting; and, AHTD spokesman Danny Strassle is encouraged that Congress had acted to provide a 60 day extension in operational authority for the Federal Highway Trust Fund, but Strassle is worried that the extension hasn't come with any funding appropriations.
