Federal Judge Halts Obama Immigration Policy

WASHINGTON — Undocumented immigrants — including an estimated 30,000 in Arkansas — will not be able to apply for legal status as planned by the Obama administration, after a federal judge in Texas blocked implementation of the program set to begin Wednesday.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson announced Tuesday that it is suspending the program to comply with the injunction issued late Monday by U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen.

The Obama administration said Tuesday it will appeal the ruling.
